1942 Photo of Maysville's Streetcar Rails

Maysville Kentucky used to have a streetcar that rode on rails through the downtown and Eastside area. This photograph from 1942 shows where the rails once were (I believe this is a street on the Lower Eastside, but I might be mistaken). It's long since been paved over, but Maysville's streetcar history is honored today in faux rails installed on Market Street and a streetcar that makes an appearance during festivals and parades.

That's awesome that the photo was identified that quickly. Not only did we get a general location, but the actual block number was narrowed down to the 300 block of West 2nd. I was way off : )

Thanks everyone. I'll see what other mystery photos I can dig up.

I put it on the BBS and most people think it is West Second street near Rosemary Clooney and Upper Street. The tall smokestack could be the cotton mill

Floodwall wasn't built in 1947-48.
How about east 2nd street west of Commerce St ?

well from the best i can tell it seem to be leading to the flood wall if it was built then. When you enhance the pic the black in the far back is a solid wall with little detail.

You know, I can't figure it out either. My best guess is that it is East Second Street but it's from so long ago all the landmarks have changed. Maybe Forest Ave.?

For the life of me I can't figure just where the photo was taken.
