All content is the sole responsibility of the person who submitted it. We cannot and do not review all material submitted. We rely on our users to be our eyes on the web and report content that doesn't meet our Editorial Guidelines (below) or violates our Terms of Service. We cannot be expected to respond to all flags.
The "Flag?" button isn't designed as a method for censorship. Feel like posting a crazy rant in your blog? No problem. We generally do not review the content posted through our service, but our responsibility extends beyond providing tools to publishers and also includes responsibilities to casual readers of Maysville Explorer. For the most part, this site should be considered to have a PG-13 rating, encouraging parents to keep track of their children's usage and urging publishers to self-censor what they post.
The Flag? button allows the Maysville Explorer community to easily note questionable content, which in turn helps us take action when needed. We have posted an Editorial Guideline (below) to help you decide if the content really merits flagging.
For more serious cases, such as content involving illegal activity or otherwise violating our Terms of Service, we will enforce our existing policies (removing content and deleting accounts when necessary).
First the basics: No nudity. Nothing harmful or illegal. Foul language should be kept to a minimum. If you wouldn't see it in a PG-13 movie, then it doesn't belong here.
Alright, here we go:
No content may be submitted that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, abusive, obscene, harassing, an invasion of another's privacy, racially or ethnically hateful, or harmful to minors in any way.
No content may be submitted that the poster does not have a right to submit under any law (no copyrighted material).
No content may be submitted that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation.
No content may be submitted that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware.
No content may promote or provide instructional information about illegal activities, promote physical harm or injury against any group or individual, or promote any act of cruelty to animals. This may include, but is not limited to, providing instructions on how to assemble bombs, grenades and other weapons.
No content may otherwise violate our Terms of Service.
When you click the "Flag?" button you are brought to this page where you will see a form containing an explanation box and URL (web address). Make sure that the URL is correct and points to the page where the objectionable content resides. Then fill out the box explaining in detail what it is that you found inappropriate and where on the page we can find it. An administrator will review the page in question and take the necessary action. These actions may include warning the poster, placing a Content Warning message in front of the page, removing the material completely, setting it to "unlisted", or no action at all where based upon our Editorial Guidelines.
